NORTHWEST TERRITORIES

We have found no documentation on when motor vehicle registration began in the territory, except that registration figures reported begin with 1941, the same date as the earliest known N.W.T. plates.  58 registrations are reported for 1941.  1941 plates #1 to #73 are known, indicating that more plates were ordered than were actually needed that year.

The earliest known motorcycle plate is a 1967 #508.
